Since mid-June, paint companies have been announcing their predictions for what color will define 2019. The selection of hues couldn't be more different, ranging from earthy tones to mild blues. Regardless of their differences, companies have put months of research into selecting their Colors of the Year. Below you will find what colors paint companies think will adorn your remodels in 2019:
Sherwin-Williams selected Cavern Clay as its 2019 color. The terracotta shade is "a nod to mid-century modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest," according to the company. The selection is part of a broader prediction that "2019 will be a renaissance of the 1970s—with a twist," Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, said in a press release.
Benjamin Moore pegged Metropolitan as its 2019 Color of the Year. The hue is a "stylish gray with cool undertones." Metropolitan "exudes beauty and balance" and is a "color in the neutral spectrum that references a contemplative state of mind and design," Benjamin Moore's director of strategic design Ellen O'Neill said in a press release announcing the Color of the Year.
Behr chose Blueprint as the company's second ever Color of the Year. The mid-tone blue is "warmer than denim and softer than navy." Erika Woelfel, vice president of color and creative services at Behr, said the hue is "universally appealing" and "is poised to become an instant classic for years to come" in a press release from the company.
PPG Paints named Night Watch as its color for 2019. The green is a verdant hue that the brand describes as rich, luxurious, and a classic shade the emulates the feeling of lush greenery. The selection reflects a broader prediction from the Pennsylvania-based company that many impactful color selections will be those reflected in the outdoors.
Dunn-Edwards selected Spice of Life, a dark, browned, fire brick red with orange undertones, as its 2019 Color of the Year. Color expert and stylist for Dunn-Edwards Sara McClean described the color as "outgoing" and "confident" in a press release from the company.
